Getting an new heal a foot surgery memoir by Stephanie Peguero

It was the night of may 29th 2019 my older sister 23rd birthday and we will all having cake. I Could barely walk with my right foot all blistered up. I was happy she was turning 23 and I wanted to be happy for her despite the very next day ill be with  surgical  masks on my face and on an iv.  Could you imagine celebrating a siblings birthday? then the very next day in surgery and all sleepy with a gauzed foot covered in plastic medical stuff. The night after my sisters 23rd birthday I woke up that morning it had been raining and I was very scared about the upcoming surgery. I got up dressed and headed to the hosiptial.. I couldn't eat which was hard for me my morning usually started off with a morning cappuccino. After I put my stuff in my locker I recognized I knew where everything was I had an finger revision surgery on my left hand the year prior which took an year to heal. I laid down the bed and watched tv while I waited to be moved to the surgery bed. The prom musical was doing an performance on the view. It was good to see their performance made me laugh and smile. When it was time to head into the surgery room I had been surrounded by 8 doctors. I was so hallucinating I thought my sister Katherine had been the doctor. I laid down on the hard bed with a breathing mask and the sweet doctor holding my hand as they made the countdown for me to fall asleep. The one thing I recall before completely knocking out was seeing my sister Katherine and then I was out. The next you thing I knew I was dreaming feeling the ocean grow threw my body. It felt great this feeling of so much happiness I cant describe what it felt to be under the  anesthesia. When I woke up I was in the recovery room with my right foot covered In bandages I couldn't feel my legs or feet at all. Everything was a blur I think even for an second I didn't even know what I was doing or where I was. It then kicked in I had just a foot surgery and that my whole right heal most of it was covered in stitches bandages and that my old heal was gone. They gave me ice and graham crackers and my mom came and told me home. My memories were tad bit blur for a few weeks and I had to walk with a cane for almost 2 months wearing nothing but gauzes and socks on my right foot. I had a chance to rediscover my self with most of my memories being a bit blurred. I got a chance to discover who I really was. Its been almost 8 months since the surgery. I no longer use a cane and my heal no longer looks as bad as it did before. I just had my 22nd birthday and no I didn't go into surgery the day after but instead returned the next day as a resting day. Thank you all for sharing my story xoxo-Stephanie.
